Last piece of art or toy you bought and why?
Last toy I bought was a 3 pack of the DarkSideHero Ge Ge No Kitaro unpainted figures off Yahoo Japan. I only collect unpainted Japanese vinyl (narrow scope keeps spending down) and I saw these for a price you cant argue with.

Upcoming show?
My new solo show Handcrafted Vectors is opening on July 10th at Schmancy Toys in Seattle. http://www.schmancytoys.com. Since Im not making the trek out there Bwana Spoons will also be doing his WTF Tour book signing that night so its a two-fer if youre in the area!

What is the show about?
Handcrafted Vectors is all new work that Ive done in a new style that combines different techniques from Street Art into a sort of decoupage/collage style. The influences are as varied as Matisse, Eric Carle, Roger Hargreaves, Colorforms and the Endless Love Crew.

One thing that doing vector work can sometimes lack is texture. All the new pieces are made on hand painted paper, the outlines done in paint pen and applied to boards. I wanted to keep the style of the pieces as simple as my vector work but having the organic look of paint. Also I tried to keep the feel of a paste up you’d find in the street so the application of the designs on the boards are rough, but I think they look great!

Lastly the themes I’ve explored in the show are primitive religion and people, updated mythology, some new characters I’ve been working on, as well as a whole new set of Char work. Doing Char in this new style has really re-ignited my drive to do new works with him in it. I’m going to be doing an ongoing series of new Char stuff in this style.

I think overall my favorite combo is black white and red, but pink orange white is a close second…

Dogs or Cats?
This is the 3rd interview in a row to ask me this. Although Im a cat person I’ll say dogs just to keep things fresh.

What kind of car do you drive?
1996 Honda Accord with a leaky sunroof! After it rains and I get out of the car, its like a wet tshirt contest but with an tired old guy instead of hot co-eds.

Zen or ADD?
ADD before the scrip, Zen after it kicks in

Name a pet peeve?
People shopping in line at the Co-op, and people who smack their food when they eat. Both make me irrationally angry.

What would your last meal be?
Barbecue but not the B.S. BBQ you get here in NYC… The real shit Kansas City Style.
