SDCCC – Strangekiss booth
Strangekiss Booth
Saki: Just last night I realized that David Lanham created the “twitterific” bird. I think it’s cute, but I’m also a little on the fence of whether or not it belongs in this market. I do however really like the Fetch figure that they’ll be displaying, also created by David Lanham. The little gnome guy is super cute. I’m still on the fence about the yeti.
JB: If you want to see undiluted hate, search out that Yeti on Skullbrain.
MPH: Jeremy, you just made me read through 23 pages of SB hate. Though I don’t agree with a lot of things they say I do agree that clothing does no belong on this figure. I didn’t know vinyl could look “frumpy”.
Eddi: Agree with Vince, clothing does not look well on this design. Not to say I love the character design to begin with. Just not my cup of tea.
MPH: LOVE the MAD one though
MAD: I think the concept of clothing on figures is cool if done right. Haven’t seen mine in person yet, but from what I’ve seen I’m happy with it. The tattoo graphics on it came out really nice, so if you don’t like the clothes, take em off and display it. 23 pages of hate? Get a fuggin life already… its a toy. If its not yer thing, don’t buy it. I could give 2 shits….Move on… Maybe I shoulda styled it as a bad character from Godzilla? Then would it get the “cool” award?
MPH: It was actually more like 3 pages of Yeti hate but 23 pages of overall hate. I did see a few positive posts on western toys however.
JB: Clothing on a toy is a really precarious undertaking. If you are Brothersfree, by all means, go to town on your toy. Put it in a toga even, and it will look brilliant. However, this just doesn’t work. And while we’re talking about it, another yeti? Come on. I propose an embargo on yetis, spraycans and rabbits. Yeti toys are becoming as common as hipster mustaches in Williamsburg (and almost as irritating). Move on!
