Recap – UNIQLO Pac-Man Challenge
UNIQLO celebrated the launch of their new Namco licensed Pac-Man t-shirt line with a battle for the ages as VP East went toe-to-toe with 14 other companies in the UNIQLO Pac-Man Challenge at UNIQLO SOHO located @ 546 Broadway.
UNIQLO dedicated their mezzanine level to the competition allowing for spectators & competitors to crowd together to watch the action. Competitors were made up of two man teams representing a variety of culture laden companies ranging from websites to magazines to record labels. For each round, two teams would nominate a single member to challenge another team to the get the highest score in three minutes. Live video of the competing games was projected onto giant screens and remixes of classic Namco video games was pumped through the store’s audio completing the video game world feel.
VP East started out strong in the Semi-Finals with VP East Alumni: John Wong dominating the representative from Josh Spear. Spirits were high for the VP East team until the Finals. Team member Jason Sutton took to the floor and received a crushing defeat at the hands of Super Future. When all was said and done record label Blacksmith took first place, Super Future came in a close second, and Giant Step took third. VP East still walked away with a 5th Place win and some sweet bags of Pac-Man schwag.
