Debuting on Jan. 23, Scion launches the sixth edition of its successful art tour, “Installation 6: Video”. The tour opens in Los Angeles at Scion’s own 4,200 square foot Installation L.A. Space gallery in Culver City. The opening reception takes place on January 23, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. and is free with complimentary valet parking and an open bar. The exhibit will run until February 13.

The annual tour, designed to expose established and emerging artists and their work to audiences across the country, features a distinctive selection of international talent and visits Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Austin, as well as a newly added stop in Wichita, Kan.

For 2010, the tour focuses on the video medium, which emerged in the 1960s and has since expanded galleries into more experimental, kinetic and interactive spaces.  “Installation 6: Video” challenged 10 artists to create non-narrative video installations that will transform five unique exhibitions.  Artists include: Dust la Rock (Brooklyn, NY), Eric Nakamura (Los Angeles, CA), Saelee Oh (Los Angeles, CA), French (London, England), Ill-Studio (Paris, France), Josh Graham (New York, NY), Monihan Monihan (New York, NY), Mark Mothersbaugh (Los Angeles, CA), PMKFA (Tokyo, Japan) and Sage Vaughn (Los Angeles, CA).

“For ‘Installation 6,’ we unveil a full exhibition of video installations that illustrate how 10 emerging artists and creative icons see the world through vivid movement and color,” says Jeri Yoshizu, Scion manager, sales promotions. “In our continued support of independent artistic expression, we are eager to introduce audiences across the country to inventive works by leading talent in art, music and design who push the boundaries of creativity with every medium they explore.”

HARLEY-DAVIDSON PRESENTS: ART OF REBELLION
New York Art Show, One Night Only – Saturday October 17
At LA.Venue In Chelsea, NYC

ART OF REBELLION: Art meets motorcycle culture…

The ART OF REBELLION brings together 10 U.S. artists hand-picked by Harley-Davidson®–icons and emerging artists who are world-renowned in both the music and art worlds for their rock poster artwork.  Their work will be on display at the ART OF REBELLION show Saturday, October 17 at La.VENUE (608 W. 28th Street New York, NY). The artists chosen for the event in the West Chelsea gallery district are Art Chantry, Brian Ewing, Derek Hess, Dirty Donny, Frank Kozik, Harpoon, John Van Hamersveld, Lindsey Kuhn, Tara McPherson and The Pizz.

“These artists represent the rebellious spirit that we very much connect with-mixing old with new, defying boundaries and creating fresh individual perspectives,” said Susanne Dawursk, Harley-Davidson director of Outreach Marketing. “The Art Of Rebellion is a must-see event that showcases the artists and supports the art community at large.”

Harley-Davidson created ART OF REBELLION as a forum for artists to showcase their work and interact with other artists, galleries and media, as well as give them the needed opportunity and exposure to help further their careers and leverage their credibility in the art scene. For the show, each artist will paint one Harley-Davidson Iron 883TM gas tank and they will also sell signature art posters at the show. The Iron 883–part of the Harley-Davidson’s Dark Custom line which fuses minimalist design with a vintage feel–evokes the adventurous spirit of the dawn of the 60’s motorcycle rebellion.

A portion of the proceeds from poster and tank sales will go to CUE Art Foundation. CUE Art Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit forum for contemporary art that gives artists, students, scholars and art professionals resources at many stages of their careers and creative lives (http://www.cueartfoundation.org/).

Current – D*Face @ Jonathan Levine

image1dface

To think you had already have seen the entire D*Face gallery show at Jonathan Levine… this just in…

To complement the Exquisite Corpse theme of D*Face’s show Ludovico Aversion Therapy, the three-panel 8’ x 12’ focal point of the artist’s site-specific installation was unveiled on opening night in an unfinished state, and will change over time. Beginning with an image of the artist’s own eyes on a black background, D*Face will add additional layers individually over the exhibition’s run, so that visitors may return to see the work develop gradually into it’s completed state. The show runs through October 10th, be sure to come back to check out the progress!

Upcoming – D*Face @ Jonathan Levine

dface

Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to present Ludovico Aversion Therapy / All Your Dreams Belong To Us, a solo exhibition of new original works and multiples by the London-based street artist known as D*Face, returning to the gallery for his debut solo show in the United States; in conjunction with a site-specific, street-level installation.

The show title Ludovico Aversion Therapy references a futuristic human behavior reconditioning treatment from A Clockwork Orange (the 1972 cult-classic film by Stanley Kubrick), in which the patient’s eyelids are forced open to watch disturbing footage containing subliminal messages. Artist statement: “If you’ve ever wondered what goes on inside of my mind, this body of work is it. A visual interpretation of lucid dreams—the replaying, disassembly and reconfiguring of images held in one’s mind… it’s as much ‘Exquisite Corpse’ as everyday Ludovico Aversion Therapy.”

Opening Saturday, September 12th, from 7 – 9pm.  Exhibition runs through October 10th.

Goodwood NYC X kaNO

I recently had the opportunity to do a crossover with the very talented Kerri O’Connell of GoodWood NYC. For those of you unfamiliar with Kerri’s work, she is a designer who chooses to craft her jewelry out of wood. The moneygrip medallion was something that had been in the back of my mind for a long time, I was just waiting for the right medium and the right person to do it. GoodWood NYC did a great job on these and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ll be dropping these for sale at the kaNO kid shop next wednesday September 2nd at 12pm EST, as always I will only have a limited supply in my shop.

medium: Wood      Dimensions: 4″X.25″    Price: $35.00 USD + shipping (Chain included)
